It would have been nice if everything had run smoothly the first time but, not unexpectedly, there were a few bumps (literally) along the way. The layout called for four #4 turnout switches; -three of them appearing in the image above. The engine "sparked" and freqently derailed when going through these switches. Another search of model rr web sites found several referrence to the need for "fine tuning" these switches; -though the Kato representatives at a recent model railroading show said they knew of no such issues. It was time to attempt the suggested "fine-tuning" and double check connections, etc.
